How Funny

Samuel loves books. He will sit and look at pictures for a long time. He actually did fall asleep looking at his "DinoTrucks" books. He's such a treasure.
Miranda is so creative. She is always putting together scenes and scenarios. Here she put together an entire city complete with Mermaids in the lake and dinosaurs on the hilltop.

Flowers

One thing that I love about where I live is the flowers. There is always something blooming, almost year round. It makes me smile to see happy flowers all the time.

Summer Fun

SO cute! The kids love it when Nick plays with them in the water.
Great timing to get the splash in the picture.

Beach Fun

Nick also played frisbee with Samuel and Kaitlyn quite a bit. They were pretty good.
We had a great time.

I hate being sick

I hate being sick. Even with the blessings that no one else has caught it yet, and it was at a time when my husband could stay home and take care of the kids ALL WEEKEND and on Monday. I still hate being sick. I hate even more when I finally cave and go see a doctor. Then the doctor inevitably tells me that it does look like I've come down with something, and I should start feeling better in a few days. And if I haven't heard from them in 3 days, call about that step culture that he did. !?!?!

Do all doctors think all patients are stupid? Is it not obvious that if I'm in his office after 4 days of complete misery with a throat so infected that I couldn't talk without extreme pain (and I've passed a kidney stone--it's not like I don't know how much pain is a descent amount of pain), that maybe a little more than, "You're sick. Check back in 3 days" would be appropriate.

I hate being sick. I hate have to talk to doctors who assume I'm a wuss and an idiot. Especially when I am already feeling crappy because I'm sick.

TOO COOL!

Miranda was chosen to train in the Jedi Academy. She dressed in a Jedi robe.
Miranda then began her training by learning skills with a lightsaber.
Darth Vader interrupted the training so that he could try to turn the young prospective Jedi's to the dark side!
Miranda bravely used her training to battle Darth Vader! He could never turn her to the dark side.
Having beaten Darth Vader, the prospective Jedi's were officially named Padawan learners. Congratulations Miranda!!!

Yep, spoiled

While it was raining, Miranda kept asking when we could go to DisneyLand. I told her that we could go on Wed if the weather was nice, and she didn't mind missing "park day." (In our ward there's a designated park on Wed at 1:00 for anyone who wants to bring their kids to play. My kids are always wanting to go.) Miranda and Samuel considered their options and chose DisneyLand. So yesterday, I picked Miranda up from school at 1:00, we headed to DisneyLand.

It was fabulous! We went on several rides we haven't been on before as well as our old favorites. The weather was perfect. Sunny and cool. When we got there we pushed up our long sleeves because they were a bit warm. By the time we left we rolled them down because it had become a bit cool. We didn't even need jackets.

The best park was that several very fun hours (not to mention very good ware-out-the-children hours) at DisneyLand cost me under $15. (In fact it should have cost under $5, but on the way there I realized that I hadn't eaten lunch so we stopped to eat off a dollar menu. Then on the way home I didn't want the kids to fall asleep, especially without eating so we revisited the same dollar menu.)

Yep, spoiled.

Spoiled

I am quite surprised at how quickly I've become spoiled by California weather. I caught myself thinking, "It's been raining for over a week. I need it to stop so that my kids can play outside again." Then I realized that it was the middle of January. Since when do I expect that my kids can play outside (without even jackets) in the middle of January? It's amazing how quickly my expectations of 70 degrees and sunny have arrived.
